Blues enforcer Cam Janssen will get the opportunity to sit in the seats at Scottrade and watch someone else throw punches for a change. Janssen will watch with interest as some of the guys he even off-ice trains with hit the ring.
Cam Janssen's interest in June 6TH'S Strike Force event is more than just being a fan. The Blues enforcer trains with St. Louis native Jesse Finney, a fighter on the card.
Cam gives his training with Jesse a lot of credit for his success as a fighter in the NHL.
"If I wouldn't have done that, I don't know where I'd be right now because it helped me out in a lot of of fights and situations on the ice, and I'm gonna keep doing that for years to come." Cam Janssen - Blues Enforcer
"Man, Cam Janssen is a freak of an athlete. You show him one thing and he remembers it for the next two weeks... He brings lots of energy to the gym... If Cam decided to give up the gloves and be done with skating, he could be a world champion in a couple years." Jesse Finney MMA Fighter/Instructor
Janssen can now return the favor and offer main event fighter, Granite City native Robbie Lawler some advice about fighting in front of the home crowd. "It's hard not to think about it, but you kinda just have to block it out. When you are out there doing it, you're not thinking about anybody watching you do it."
"Ruthless" Robbie Lawler is listening.
"I'm not too worried about that. A fight's a fight. It's cool that it's here. As far as pressure and being excited, I don't really get excited." Robbie Lawler - Strikeforce Main Event Fighter
Jesse Finney is equally focused, but a little more excited.
"Ruthless" Robbie Lawler admitted that he's a fan of fighting in hockey, especially when there's a one-punch knockout. His fight against Jake Shields is the main event. The fight will be live on Showtime, Saturday, June 6th.
