ST. ANN, MO - ( KPLR )—
A small road-side memorial now stands where a 5-year-old boy was killed by a car in St. Ann.
The accident happened 7:45 p.m. Wednesday on Livingston Avenue. Police believe what happened here was simply a tragic accident, but there are some lingering questions. Dahsean Maybry was killed crossing the street. Dahsean did not live in this neighborhood. In fact he did not even live in St. Ann. He was from nearby Woodson Terrace but police say he was seen running around with a group of older kids earlier in the evening. An officer saw them hanging out in Mary Ridge Park trying to light a trash can on fire. Eventually, the group ended up across from the ABC Ball Diamond just as a game was letting out.
Right now, St. Ann police are still investigating the case though they say clearly the driver was not at fault. In fact she was only going about 10-15 miles an hour. But they do want to know why a five year old boy was running around a mile or so from home without any adult supervision. And until they know the answer, the case will remain open.
