He's a larger than life figure in the world of music. It only figure's that he should become a larger than life figure in bronze. Chuck Berry's statue is moving to University City. It was sculpted by Harry Weber.

You've seen Harry Weber's work all over St. Louis. Every statue outside Busch Stadium is his, except the "Stan the Man Statue." The Stan statue is in Springfield, Missouri. His task is to create something as timeless as the music Berry created.

"This process hasn't changed much in 2000 years, it's still labor intensive. And about 1/3 of the time is me doing this clay work. One third is making the molds and one third is casting it and welding it back together in bronze." said Harry Weber.

Weber carves his molds first in foam. Then he covers it in clay, and finally its cast in bronze for the ages.

The statue is the brainchild of Joe Edwards, Charlie Brennan and Bill McClelland. The Chuck Berry sculpture is set to be installed in University City in September. It will be part of a music themed plaza and the head of the Greenways Centennial bike path.
