Teacher's Crash Death Latest Tragedy For Columbia, IL Elem. School

COLUMBIA, IL (AP)—
A southwestern Illinois school is enduring more tragedy. Illinois State Police say Tracey Rubemeyer Luhr, 43, was killed Saturday in a traffic accident near the Randolph County town of Red Bud. A Matthew Ehret, 9 , also died in that crash. Luhr was a second-grade teacher at Parkview Elementary School in Columbia. That's the school Garett and Gavin Coleman attended before they were found strangled with their mother May 5 in their Columbia home.

The boys' father is charged with murder in those deaths.

After learning of Luhr's death, Parkview Elementary administrators called the parents of each of her students to let them know.

Students will be encouraged to paint and write condolence cards to Luhr's injured husband and daughter.
