To get rid of old electronic items, you usually have to pay to drop them off for recycling, but not anymore. MERS Goodwill in St. Louis has a new recycling program that will give you a tax deductible receipt for your donation.
Roni Vetter from MERS Goodwill said "So this is wonderful so the public can drop it off free of charge. The computer will be recycled."
Guaranteed not to go in a landfill, MERS Goodwill and Dell Inc. are partnering in the Reconnect Program. You can drop off old electronic items and then Dell pays Goodwill for the parts.
The objective is to put people to work in the community with the revenues from donations.
Peggy Klicker, KPLR National Sales Manager, has a special donation. The generous gift is a 1998 Honda Accord.
Klicker said "My parents did something like this a couple of years ago and my husband and I decided it would be kind of a neat example to send to our son."
The MERS Goodwill Recycling Drive kicks off with a two-day event on Sunday November 8 and Monday November 9, from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
Unwanted electronics may be brought to Congregation B'nai Amoona Synagogue at 324 South Mason Road in Creve Coeur. You can also donate electronic items at any Goodwill store
