On the CW's Gossip Girl actress Kelly Rutherford plays Lily Van Der Woodsen the mother of "It" girl Serena Van Der Woodsen. The series revolves around Serena and other privileged teens on New York City's Upper East Side.

This season things really heat up as Serena says goodbye to her her elite private school and begins life as a college student at Brown.

"I think she's excited about Serena going to college and going to her alma-mater." Kelly Rutherford

The show is known for its provocative subject matter but Rutherford calls the writing very human.

"The parents aren't perfect on the show, the kids aren't perfect you see why, they mess up but always find a mends. A lot of love and it's very contemporary issues that other shows might not address." Kelly Rutherford

Rutherford says also expect more fabulous fashion on the show that is setting trends across the nation. She even let it slip there will be a wedding this season. Will it be hers?

"We'll I don't know, it could be!" Kelly Rutherford

This week the CW debuted the new Melrose Place. Rutherford starred in the original show in the 90's and she remains in contact with many of her old cast mates.
