ROCK HILL, MO (KPLR11.com) - One lane of traffic has been re-opened on Manchester Road in Rock Hill, but the aftermath of an early morning water main break is expected to impact traffic in the area for much of the day. Manchester is closed to westbound traffic until further notice, and only that one lane of eastbound traffic is getting through. The break happened just east of McKnight Road. On the west side of the problem area, traffic is being diverted at Bremington.

The break happened about 4:00 this morning as temperatures dipped below twenty degrees. MODOT offiicials say it appears there are actually two breaks, one in a six inch line and the other in a nearby twelve inch line. It took about three hours to isolate the area of the break and get the water turned off. That stopped what had been a steady flow of water into the street. The pavement on Manchester is also buckled in a couple of spots.

Workers at nearby businesses were somewhat surprised upon arriving this morning to find the road torn up and access to their buildings somewhat limited. Water is currently off in the area as well.
