ST. LOUIS MO ( KPLR ) -
Homes close to River Des Peres have water roaring through their yards Monday morning. About 25 to 26 homes have been evacuated. Last year, two people died in the neighborhood due to flash flooding. University City is asking the government to buy out owners of 26 homes that often flood during storms.
Officials say as many as 400 other homes are also subject to flooding. They hope a new city plan will help them determine later this year which other homes need to be bought out.
Showers are expected to continue Monday afternoon. The rain is expected to continue on and off throughout the day and into early Tuesday.
