Some cheesecakes baked by a Jefferson County man go for as much as $100. Doug Noreen is baking 25 cheesecakes for a fundraiser benefiting House Springs Intermediate School.

Doug Noreen, baker and librarian, said "I've made an almond cheesecake, a chocolate cheesecake, turtle cheesecake, grasshopper cheesecake, pumpkin cheesecake." Noreen adds "I think the favorite right now is the almond joy cheesecake."

There are 25 different cheesecakes. So many that he has to store some of them at refrigerators at school.

This is Doug's third year participating in the annual pie auction. All the money raised goes right into the classroom.

Jennifer Baugh, House Springs Intermediate School's Principal, said "Teachers use that to buy educational software. They might use that to purchase math manipulatives and just lot of different classroom resources."

"I'm a librarian because I like to promote reading and a lot of times we are getting reading material that the kids like to read because of that," said Noreen.

Doug has built quite a reputation as a baker. Now he's getting requests for certain kinds of cheesecakes to put up for auction. He said "I've stuck to it because its fairly simple, people enjoy it, it makes them happy and I get pleasure from that."

Last year, the event raised $3000. They hope to beat that amount at this year's pie auction, which will be held Friday at 6PM at House Springs Intermediate School in House Springs.
