ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO ( KPLR ) -
Record rain and near record cold in October left many farmers wondering if they would have any harvest at all this Fall. When all was said and done, more than a foot of rain fell over much of Missouri and Illinois in October bringing harvest operations to a grinding halt. But the pattern has changed in early November bringing sunshine and, instead of near record cold, near record heat. That's a perfect combination according to farmers.
This past weekend was a key weekend for farmers. While many of us were out relaxing in the pleasant weather, they were out working hard, day and night, to salvage every last soybean and ear of corn.
It's been a struggle, but they say it is paying off.
