Our amazingly wet October continues with heavy rain Friday morning. Showers and thundershowers should continue through the morning. Over an inch of rain has fallen since midnight -- that on top of the record rainfall Thursday. The total record October rainfall is nearing 12 inches. Areas like Webster Groves have seen two to three inches. The morning commute will be a wet one with rains ending Friday afternoon. Temperatures will fall slightly as the dry air moves in.
Intense rain has inundated the St. Louis area Friday morning. Overnight storms produced more than an inch of rain across the area, and upwards of 2 ½ inches in some spots. Flash flooding has been rampant, leading to some road closures.
In Affton, Missouri, St. Louis County Police reported water on roadways, "all over the place" before dawn. As the rains let up around 5:00 am, the water came down in many of the same areas.
Further south in Jefferson County, Missouri, Highway M was among the roads that had to be shut down. That was near Highway 67 in Barnhart, Missouri. Once the waters receded, road crews used snow plows to remove debris prior to re-opening the road.
Up the road in Imperial, Missouri, a swollen creek led to Seckman Road being shut down for a time. Authorities still had closure signs up even as the road became passable again.
By 8:00 am rains were picking up again, increasing the risk of the water coming back up.
Rains at times overwhelmed the drainage systems leaving standing water in the roadways. In a few outlying spots roads are closed, and in other locations it's just coming up and down with the rain. Pattonville firefighters have already made two swift boat rescues this month. They're concerned about drivers taking chances.
Several School are closed because of flooding or flooding concerns. Newburg R2, Silex R1, Potosi R3 and South Iron County R1 are all closed due to flooding. Winfield R4 school district is delayed one hour.

E.St.Louis Don't control nothing not even itself.Chicago is the only city in Illinois.Just drive north on 55 when you get to Springfield the road suddenly gets much better.
