TWINSBURG - A suspected bank robber was caught soon after he allegedly committed his crime. But it's what he did next that almost has to be seen to be believed.

On Thursday, a man robbed a First Merit bank branch in Streetsboro. A short time later, Twinsburg police stopped 35 year-old John H. Ford of Cleveland as he drove on I-480.

As dashcam video shows, officers began searching Ford for weapons as he was leaned over a police cruiser in handcuffs. An officer pulls a piece of paper from one of Ford's pockets. Seconds later, Ford is seen eating the paper.

A bank teller had reported that the robber presented a note but did not produce a gun. Twinsburg police found a wad of cash in Ford's car, and a gun, but not a note. Police now wonder if Ford ate the paper because it may have been the robbery note.
